Re: [RC] Outlaw Trail 1998--nostalgiac moment - Marlene Moss

I too really miss that ride.  I was never able to do the point to point rides, or even a 50.  But I did all 5 days of LD in one of my first years of competing and it was truly a grand experience.  2001 and I was blissfully able to ignore what was going on in the rest of the world for an entire week.  I was finally able to go with my husband the last year it was a 3 day ride so at least he got to see some of it.  I would go again in a minute if it were possible.

I also heard that the limitations were something to do with a limitation on the number of heartbeats in a group (20 I think, including horses) as well as the Forest Service charging them a lot, plus making it financially difficult for any vending.

Any way it could fit within AERC rules to host a ride that requires that there is no bunching to keep any group of riders under 10?  I’m pretty sure a lot of people would be just happy to ride it and not “race”!
