Put a clause in the contract that he must pass a vet exam (vet
of your choosing). Then, find a vet who knows feet well and have him vetted
with the purpose of doing endurance. Wouldn’t hurt to have a great farrier evaluate
at him as well. I would likely want to see x-rays or expect the vet/farrier to
want to see x-rays.

Well, in writing up the agreement, they noted that the horse has a
club foot. I am
emotionally invested in this guy since summer and so excited to get him here….
But now I am a bit defuddled.
I did bring this up with the owner who swore that it is only a
cosmetic problem in the show ring and will not affect his performance. My husband agreed and sent them the
down payment which we did, but I am still struggling with spending too much
money for a horse that may never be able to do endurance riding.
I am a one horse owner and want a forever friend. I love this guy but struggle with
what to think about this foot deal.
Please let me know what you think,
Thanks,
Rozalynne
