Re: [RC] Who rides english saddles ? - Elizabeth WalkerI ride in an ASC Rubicon, which also has the adjustable stirrup bars. I noticed the same thing - that my legs seemed to be more "out front" than they were in my old Andy Foster. Just recently, my dressage instructor suggested I take my stirrups UP one notch. I did, and my feet are no longer as far in front as they were. She was suggesting it just for the arena, but I found that I liked the new length for trail, too.As someone else said, assuming the saddle is level on the horse; i.e., it fits the horse -- it is a matter of your conformation (mostly thigh length) that determines where your legs end up on that particular saddle model. Just as an example -- I use the same Webbers on my ASC that I used on my Andy Foster for years. However, I have to adjust them 4 holes HIGHER on the ASC than on the Andy Foster. Wierd. Do you live near enough to any large saddle store to go spend a few hours trying different saddles to explore the differences in how they fit you? I went to the Arabian Saddle Co. website & noticed the Rubicon saddle which they say is designed for endurance. Maybe it would fit differently. I'd also try saddles made by other companies. To me, it's the length of your thigh and calf that determine how an english saddle fits. There is absolutely no consistency among saddles which makes finding one that works really hard. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
