At Pine Tree two weeks ago, it was
explained to us by ride management and one of the vets, who is on the
Veterinary Committee, that the rule is currently being rewritten to make it
clear that Mag Sulfate is OK in the dosages used in electrolytes… the
prohibition is more for large dosages of Mag Sulfate used with the intent to
improve performance in an illegal manner. (Hmm…. It was a lot more
clear when he explained it to us.) The end result was, though, that he
said it’s fine to use Perform n’ Win or any other e-lyte with Mag
Sulfate.

recommendation
True. I don't remember if anyone knew *why* it
was on the list, though, or if there was another source of magnesium that could
be used for electrolytes.

Well, the first thing that I noticed about it was the
ingredients. We just had a discussion about Mag. Sulfate being on the AERC
prohibited substance list didn't we?
