Re: [RC] [RC] Conformation opinion - Kathy MayedaShe has a build like my older endurance horse Beau. Long legged, long pasterned, long back... Looks like she could cover a lot of ground, though. I bet she has a smooth trot. Her stifle looks a little straight right now which may predispose her to upward fixation of the patella. I would like to see more slope in the shoulder, but she is holding her head way up high in all these photos.
No horse is perfect, I think she's real pretty, and all the wonderful conformation in the world won't make up for having heart for the sport. 16 months is such a hard age to judge these things. Beau taught me a lot about how important it is to ride a horse balanced and round without the dang head held high which is what you have to pay attention to with a horse like this. But he could run like the wind when he was younger.
I often envy people with the little Crabbet arabs with the short backs and apple butts who could trot downhill like a river.
This filly will probably not be a good "downhill" horse because her legs are so long they get in the way! I have too tall Arabs and they just kinda "stumble" going on downhills sometimes. This is just a guess though.
If she moves nicely I would say go for it, bring her on slow and have fun.
