When I first started to take riding lessons, my instructor told us that there were "riders" and there were "passengers". If you are a "rider", even if you weigh 130#, you can ride a Shetland Pony over fences. If you are a 130# "passenger", even a 15 hand horse won't be happy with you in the saddle.
