just as there are exceptions on one side, there are exceptions on the other. My comments were IN GENERAL not specific nor totally inclusive. Learning is learning - in spite of a horse who bucked off his rider THREE TIME sat the start of an LD which was my mare's first ride of any distance, galloping full tilt past the horses at the starting line, for the most part, the other horses simply stared in wonder - including my little newbie mare. She learned a great deal at that ride, and I do not agree that LD's are all or even MOSTLY awful. Besides, one is not SUPPOSED to teach one's horse all manners at a ride; hopefully, they have a really good base before they get there. I know many don't but they ought to. So should the riders:) -
