> For
those of you that really would like to consider LD just a shorter version of
endurance, are you all willing to compete in awards along side endurance
distances?
We do that in the NW. See http://www.endurance.net/organizations/pner/awards.html.
Most of the awards are all together, some of them only apply to 50’s and
up, some only to 100’s, yet others to very specific things like
gaited horses. Occasionally, an LD-only rider will win something, somewhat more
often an LD ride serves to give a small boost.
> I
doubt that if this were to occur that very many LD only riders would ever get
in regional or national standings or get any recognition at all if LDs were in
the same mix as 50s and 100s.
Nothing precludes you from having awards that only include one
class of rides or another. We already do that with multi-days, and have a
special award just for that. The only downside I see to a lot of awards is that
the banquet seems to go on forever.
