I'm just now learning it depends a lot on your horse. I used to do
2-day 100's with Cheers (okay...I did back-to-back 50's since I was too chicken
to risk the mileage from the day before) and not even think about it. I
often did 3 or 4 in a season. He behaved like a normal horse on the second
day, not like a runaway freight train. This is my second full season
with Dezi, we did 2 50's at our last ride last year, and did another one a
couple weeks ago. He was not a happy camper when I put that saddle on him
the second day. However, when we did our 1st 100 last year, he seemed to
take it in stride and came through it very well. I'm very anxious to do
more 100's with him to see if that was just beginners luck, but unfortunately
there aren't a lot of 100's in MN, and my budget is really restricted this year,
so I can't travel too far. The person I bought Dezi from has done quite a few
100's, and she used to tell me she thought 2-day 100's were much more difficult
than 1-day 100's. Think of those people who do the pioneer rides...3
or more days. I think Dezi would disown me if I got on him a
THIRD day. I've actually been doing some serious soul-searching about
doing 2-day 100's with him.
