If you enter the '2-day 100' and only do one day you don't get a completion, just as if you entered a 1-day 100 and pulled at 50 miles. Part of the allure of multidays is that you can go intending to do all of x number of days, but if you pull on one or just don't feel like doing it you still get credit for the days you DID do. I don't see much point in "2 day 100s"--you accomplish the same thing by riding back-to-back 50s, without the risk of losing the completion of the first day if something happens on the second. Unless, perhaps, it is the mental aspect of 'commitment'. Parenthetically, I've always had a bit of a 'quibble' with the stats from multidays. People will occasionally state that the multiday rides have a 'higher completion rate' than single 50s or 100s, implying that they are 'safer', or ridden differently. But this doesn't take into account how many horses on any given day are "fresh" (ie not ridden the day before) or how many riders intended to do something other than what they did. Ie, if the rider went intending to do all 5 days and only did 3 or 4 (without a pull, just didn't start the next day), could this not be seen as a 'failure' on the other days...(pre-pull?). I know this isn't very clear--what I'm getting at is that many more horses complete each day of a multi than do all 5--and we can't tell if the original intention was to do all 5 or not. I'd be interested in knowing THAT stat. To put it another day...if there was a single entry "5 day 250 mile ride", how many horses would complete it? terre =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
