Re: [RC] [RC] Decade team Recognition Updated - Truman PrevattYour horse needs a base - but that base sure doesn't require more than 20 miles a week for a 50. Once that base has been established and while you are doing rides - you don't even need 20 miles a week. The rides will help serve as conditioning. When I was riding the mare I rarely did more than 30 miles a week when she was regularly doing 100's. To some extent it is the quality of the conditioning not the miles.More than once I was on a 3 week to month business trip came back and took her to a 100. She was fine - she was too fresh and almost killed me but she was fine. Truman Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLF wrote: Well, I stand corrected then. For some reason (maybe other comments in the group) I thought I would definitely have to do more than my 20+ miles a week conditioning in order to complete a 50. I'll guess I'll just have to try it, nice and slow, like you said and see how it goes. -- “He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.
