Re: [RC] Hoof Armor - Charlene StinnettCurious, what is everyone's experience with traction when using hoof armor? From the pictures it looks like it would make the sole slick as glass, whereas a bare?sole might have a little more grip due to the rougher surface. Comments? ? Charlene Stinnett? I was hoping David would get the formula worked out so the heat gun wouldn't be needed. I know they're not very expensive, but I have so much "excrement" laying around already I just can't stand the thought of having to buy another tool to keep track of (:<( I've watched my neighbor apply Hoof Armor after carefully rasping the hoof and cleaning it up nicely with a wire brush and alcohol, then just a very thin layer of the Hoof Armor. I think she used latex gloves and rubbed it in. She did say the hoof prep was very important to get it to stay on. Let us know if you try it again, Kat, I'd be interested to see if careful application will make it last a few weeks with your horses and the DG. Kathy sherman said: Kat, is there any chance that it was still on your horses and you just couldn't see it? No.? I checked for that. Maybe it flaked off from being too thick, rather than wore off? Possibly, or possibly from improper application. I haven't given up entirely yet (as I still have some), and I would very much LIKE to get it to work for me.? It is encouraging to hear that other people have had success on equally as abrasive of surfaces? kat Orange County, Calif. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
