[RC] Magnesium Supplements - rides2farYou don't remember correctly. OK, here's where I got that. A friend had one of our endurance vets help her come up with a recipe for electrolytes for her horse. It was working well. Then Spring came along, she took her horse to OD and it had access to more grass there. The horse's manure got very loose. She worried it was getting dehydrated and gave *more* electrolytes. It ended up pulling. When she and the vet conferred later he decided they should have cut back on the magnesium when she hit the lush grass. Of course I didn't take notes on the discussion and there's a far greater chance that my recollection is off than there is that the vet was mistaken. That was the sum total of my exposure to magnesium discussion. I did notice Naomi listed the grass as lower than hay, but wondered if that meant by volume, of which lots would be water? Honestly, when folks on here start talking all these ions & stuff my head kinda spins. Then I always think about the good ol' boys who kick my butt at every ride and never give a thought to ions, balance shoeing or saddle fit. Ignorance is bliss I guess. Angie (I know just enough that somehow my horses can't slide by) ____________________________________________________________ Hotel pics, info and virtual tours.
