Re: [RC] living quarters 2H straight load - Diane TrefethenDonna DeYoung wrote:Ok trailer gurus, looking for input. I want something I can pull w/ an F-250 - for 1 or 2 horses. W/ very basic/small living quarters (bath/shower combo ok). No guru here but given you've got an F250 (that IS the 1/2 ton, right?), your main concern with a 1/2 ton isn't its ability to pull. It is its ability to STOP. Add LQ and you are begging for disaster. You want LQ - upgrade to a 3/4 ton or higher to accommodate the extra WEIGHT an LQ introduces. If you choose to keep the truck, forget LQ and take a look at the Brenderups. They are designed for lightweight towing vehicles, cars even. Remember, despite the way it *looks*, a 1/2 ton *is* a lightweight towing vehicle. There are also some fiberglass models by smaller trailer makers that are suitable for a lightweight towing vehicle. Just remember the caveat that you should never have your live weight exceed your dead weight. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
