[RC] Struck a Nerve - Bruce WearyI'm sorry, Shannon, but I feel I must respond to the claims regarding making clinical conclusions from muscle testing as it is used in Applied Kinesiology. For those who are interested, please read the following in it's entirety: http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/Tests/ak.htmlThis approach is basically a parlor trick based on junk science. It has been a bane to my profession of chiropractic for years, and is a major reason why chiropractors still have a credibility problem in some quarters. Doesn't mean that Dynamite isn't a great product. I know many people who use it and swear by it. But if it works, it's not because of the explanations offered through AK. My mentor in chiropractic is quite talented in separating the scientific methods from the unsubstantiated methods. He once told me, " You can tell the patient to wear green socks while you treat him. And if he feels better afterward, it had nothing to do with the green socks." What he is essentially saying is that an apparent positive outcome only proves so much. It's hard to accept this sometimes, when we are already convinced that things work a certain way. We have to look critically at exactly what convinced us in the first place, and ask if the information is truly valid, testable and verifiable by a disinterested party. This has never been done for AK, despite much scientific investigation into it. Having a financial connection to something can a have a very strong effect on how we see things, as well.
