Re: [RC] [RC] need help - riding a trotting horse - Lynne GlazerAbsolutely--rider fit is a huge subject all by itself--I was ass- uming that it was a dressage saddle she has that already fits her well, fits her horse well (albeit she was riding a gaited horse in it before.)The friend I was talking about, for instance, has a super-long femur. Most off the rack saddles don't accomodate that, especially forward seat/AP saddles--her knee could be off of the flap in order to have her stirrup length correct. And that contributes to landing at the back of the seat's flat spot, near the cantle. However, I've seen some saddles that, though they sit quite level on the horse, simply don't fit the rider. If the seat is too big for the rider, then where the stirrups are hung can be too far out in front of where the saddle puts your set to make posting easy (or in some cases, even possible). The rider ends up in a chair seat, even though the saddle fits the horse just fine. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
