Re: [RC] Al Beloushi ist in Al Maktoum Cup - Steph TeeterI think part of the problem with these races, is that the glory goes to the rider, not the horse. In the world of horse racing, when Secretariat and Pharlap and Sea Biscuit and all those great horses won races and set records - the headlines were about the horse... not the jockey. Not to diminish the skill of the rider/trainer - and Al Balushi is a consistent top performer - but if the headline was 'Arabian horse Charlandre El Sharif sets world record on 100 mile course' - and it was the horse in the winners circle instead of the rider on the podium - then maybe the public could get behind these efforts a little more. There's nothing about them that makes me happy, inspired, motivated, or have the urge to "live vicariously" in them.
