Re: [RC] Sick to my stomach - Truman PrevattA few years ago in the Belmont, the favoriate was running a few lengths ahead close to the finish. The canon bone in the right front snapped. The jockey, literally pulled the horse up, holding him up, jumped off, grabbed the dangling leg and held it till help could get there. Because of the jockey, they were able to pin the leg and the horse lived. An amazing feat of strength and athletic ability to do that.Truman Barbara Moulton wrote: I was a hot shot fast riding really skinny FL. kid ( made up for that when I hit 40) who couldn't wait till High School graduation coming up quickly in 1976( just to make grandma happy) so I could head for Ocala and sign on as a flunky kid at some racing barn and eventually get my jockey license- then Ruffian went down and I knew no matter how fast I could ride I could never have the strength to hold a broken down horse on his or her feet like her rider managed to do trying to save her- never considered having any connection to racing since and now I don't even watch-poor 8 bells. -- "Mathematics may be defined as the subject in which we never know what we are talking about, nor whether what we are saying is true."
