Re: [RC] HRM users, I need some hints - Beth Leggieri

Thanks for the attempt to figure this out.

The rubbing is on the barrel and several inches behind the right elbow.

I have gone to a Professional's Choice cinch (thick soft plushy wool piece that velcroes on to the actual structural portion of the girth), the first girth that this mare has not galled with (100% mohair wool string girths and neoprene caused problems).

BUT EUREKA, it has just been pointed out to me that I do not need the velcro strip for the sensor since I am no longer using a neoprene girth.  I will try attaching the sensor to the actual wool portion, eliminating the velcro strip altogether.

It takes a village to ride endurance, or something like that.  Thanks!

Clarification please -- is the rubbing on the barrel, under the cinch, or is it in the armpit / elbow ?  Also -- what kind of cinch do you use?

I haven't had any problems with mine, other than it sometimes unfastens, and then shifts so the electrode is no longer making contact (or is freely dangling).  No rubbing problems though.  I use a Montana Cinca girth, so it is very flat, which may avoid some problems with rubbing in the elbow area.

I use a VMAX HRM on my mare and noticed that the cordura attachment (that houses the electrode), which is wrapped around the cinch--and situated just behind the right elbow--has rubbed the hair off, down to the hide.  There are no pink spots, just black skin showing.

Anybody else have this problem, and if so, how did you solve it?

Thanks, Beth in Texas
