[RC] Endurance rides and rising costs - peanut2@xxxxxxxI cut back on (mostly stopped althgether) dining out LAST year so I could afford the price of gas and cost to compete. So, this year I am only left with carefully picking my ride and going to the ones closest to me. Of course it is not only the cost of gas, but the cost of heating oil, food etc that leaves me/us with so much less to spend on competition. Cindy R. in Maine From: Gary Fend <garyfend@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [RC] Endurance rides and rising costs I look at it this way. The price of diesel has gone up $1.25 since last year. A friend and I went to a ride up by Redding last weekend. The total round trip distance was 440 miles and we used about 30 gallons of fuel. That means we spent about $40 more this year than last or about $20 each. That's the price of a large combination pizza and less than dinner and drinks at a restaurant. I will continue to go to rides and cut back on dinning out.
