Oh Dawn!!! Send some of that cougar peed
hay my way! I had a pack rat get in my truck and immediately chew my ignition
switch. A neighbor told me that if I put some cougar peed on grass somewhere
inside the hood I would never have that problem again. I am serious!!!

Mickie and anyone in Auburn
area: I have LOTS of cougar poo and pee on grass hay that you can
have. Free! Bring your horse and you can show them the cougar
too.
Most don't react though, as Melissa pointed out with Ruby
and Parelli. I've had many horses through here and they usually stare a
bit and then ignore him. I can send a private email with a picture of my
horse, Amigo, and Apache, cat, they are buddies with adjacent lving
quarters. Apache likes to hang out with Amigo in the mornings, they have
a routine. Amigo snifs him and Apache licks his nose, through the chain link
fence. Haven't seen one on the trail though and I have no idea what Amigo
would do if it wasn't *his* cat.
I was talking to Frank Smith a while back and he told me
about the time he saw a cougar on the American River Ride over 10 years
ago. He got to the check at the top of Cardiac Hill and vet Todd Nelson
told him he wanted him to water his mule at the nearby creek. Frank said
Todd was setting him up because there was a cougar there, on a leash with a
girl. His mule luckily didn't spook. I told him, *that was me with
Apache*. Frank didn't know me then. Many riders fell for Todd's
antics that day and not one rider's horse spooked. Todd was disappointed I
think.
Melissa, my sincere condolences to you losing Ruby. I
do know how you feel. BTW: I rode with you and your adorable
gelding out of Robinson Flat last year for a ways. I was on the buckskin
paint. If I'd have known, we'd have had lots to talk about.
