[RC] Color Country Pioneer Ride Photos - Bobbie Jo LiebermanColor Country! A pioneer ride this past weekend in the red mountains of southern Utah, on every endurance rider's wish list. Despite high winds on Day 1, the trail did not disappoint. The scenery was breathtaking, the trails (mostly on BLM land) very kind with some climbs and rocky spots leading to amazing views. Dave Nicholson was head vet while Marian Parker and her family managed the ride. They've been putting this ride on for many years, and it's very well run. Base camp, with plenty of room for rigs, was just a few miles from the town of Hurricane. Lots of milestones: Rick Leonard's Vinnie (MM Avengionce) achieved his 5,000th mile. On day 1, Bubba G hit 4,000 miles as did his rider Karl Phaler. I got to 4,000 miles as well.Had the best of both worlds: Riding my mare Gypsy on opening day, and taking photos over the next two. Fifty-milers only on Day 2, 50- milers and LD riders on Day 3.
