We have a couple of packs of wolves in the valley for the first time in almost a century. They have been getting bolder and bolder every year, and the ranchers were not allowed to do anything. With the recent changes to state management the ranchers are allowed to shoot wolves that are attacking cattle. One or two have been shot. The observation by the ranchers was that the remaining wolves (almost all of the population) suddenly are not seen, or if seen are way out of rifle range. Apparently they learn quickly to avoid people when shot at.
