[RC] Horse Won't Accept Syringe - sherman

Just some thoughts….do you ever massage the muzzle? Most horses learn to really enjoy this, even those that don’t like to be “touched” on the muzzle. A good rubbing inside of the upper and lower lips is usually appreciated too, once the horse is accustomed to you handling his mouth.

Are you able to touch your horse’s muzzle when you give a carrot or treat? Maybe rub the muzzle with one hand while you hold the carrot next to the muzzle, rub the muzzle with the carrot, stick the carrot in the side of the mouth as you would a syringe, then finally holding the carrot and syringe together until your horse no longer refuses to have the syringe near, then give applesauce or yogurt with some molasses in it whenever you handle your horse.
