Re: [RC] Spanish Mustangs/freedoms - Beth WalkerThis is true, and I've done the same thing. Shadow was the result of a breeding between Witraff and a grade Arab/Morgan cross that had flashy gaits. I had a breeding lease with the mares owners. I registered him as a 1/2 Arab, gelded him (as I wasn't going to breed him), broke him myself at 2, and kept him his entire 25 years. He was still going strong (had completed a 25 miler the month before) when I lost him from a broken leg.Conformationally, he was better suited to dressage, as he had those flashy gaits (and long toe, low heel). Unfortunately, his rider was better suited to the trail. :) In the ring, he was just too hot for me until he turned 18 and started to mellow out. He still dumped me at age 23...
