The worst case i ever saw of 'Why to Breed" was a
mare that was laying in a stall in a large breeding facility with sores over her
body, her coat was depleting and mangy and she could not stand up to pee as her
legs were maligned and disfigured and she had to lay in her own
urine.
I asked Why don't you put her down?
The answer was simple. She was
valuable as an embryo transplant as at one time in her life she had been a
good halter horse and had made a lot of money. They kept her alive for her
embryos. She was not even in her 20's and she should have been put down
because she suffered so much.
This was an Arabian Mare and there are
some things in life i'm glad i will never understand. They sorta hid her in the
corner of the barn and they are now bankrupted. Maybe thats a good
thing. I think i'd rather have a good horse sound for a long time than
that.
I just gave away my last mare and i'm out of this
'business'. ts
