[RC] Data on Chiropractic - Bruce WearyHi Betsy--I apologize for not responding to your request about information regarding chiropractic, and presumably manipulation so closely associated with it. I have been out of town. There is so much literature and clinical evidence of the effectiveness of manipulation, it is difficult to know where to begin. Would you be more interested in the medical, chiropractic or osteopathic literature? The short answer is that there is overwhelming evidence of it's effectiveness for the scope of conditions it is designed to treat, primarily musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. It is also effective in horses, when applied skillfully. And horses are not susceptible to the placebo effect or the power of suggestion. I have been a practicing chiropractor for over 25 years, as well as a post graduate lecturer, and well based in the foundational literature, and would be happy to steer you in the right direction. How did your husband become convinced that there is no scientific evidence? I ask because sometimes even frank, undeniable evidence is no match for a mind that is already made up. I am amazed how many people belong to the "Flat Earth Society," an actual organization with thousands of followers. Let me know how I can help.
