Re: [RC] [RC] Hydra sponsored Endurance development program - Maryanne GabbaniLet's see what clinics actually get sponsored and then we can say how beneficial it is. So far the UAE track record on clinics has been pretty dismal. Like, I've never heard of any. Almost all of their money has gone into huge cash purses that are basically financing for the FEI and into some courses for officials which also is primarily a benefit to the FEI. This doesn't look good for them to many of us, but so far they don't seem to take much notice because a) it's working very well and b) no one is printing any pieces about conflict of interest in the Gulf papers (surprise! surprise!).Having companies putting up the cash in the form of sponsorship is a great way of disguising the source of funding for the purses (wonder who is the owner of Hydra or who is on the board anyway?...or how the idea of funding was proposed. Was it like the fax to the Breeders' Association here? "If you want us to support your flatracing program, you will have three endurance races in in the next three months on the following dates...") I hope that we see something in the future about clinics rather than purses. Lord knows that Egypt could sure use a few of them....or maybe we are not judged to be underdeveloped enough. Maryanne
