Maybe a horse can gait 50 miles without taking a not gaited step. A 100 miles - all I can say is many of my relatives come from Missouri ;-) .The mare would trot, gallop and use her wonderful 6 mph walk. She would throw in a gait every once in awhile - mostly downhill. I chose the speed (sometimes) she chose the gait.
