This introduces a whole new set of variables into the
study. Because their foot falls are different etc., it is very likely that
each type of gait stresses the horse differently and thus potentially produces
different injury, energy expenditure, and reaction to rider weight and
skill.
The expense and complexity of the study can now be
multiplied by the number of distinct gaits.
