Re: [RC] heavy riders? - Sisu West RanchThe whole thing about how much difference a light vs. heavy rider, a big horse vs. small horse, a horse used to heavy rider vs. horse not used to heavy rider, "good" rider vs. "bad" rider make is much to complicated to be settled by gedanken (thought experiments).I seriously doubt that even the most brilliant group appropriate scientists could answer this question. Susan G. has long maintained that the field experiments she did show that rider weight does not matter, it is just the weight of the horse. I had a heated discussion about this with her a year or so ago. My best guess is that each of the postings have related a potential important variable. The only way to settle this would be to spend a lot of money to do a careful experiment with all variables controlled and varied in the proper manner. Unless we can convince, someone with deep pockets that this is worthy it will never be known. Ed PS. The deepest horse pockets I know of will not be interested in this, in their world the rider weight, terrain and speed are fixed.
