Hi Leo - I had the same observation when I was there - and was surprised that more horses weren't clipped. But the locals thought it was more of a problem for the horses to get too cold, than too hot. Tho - it seems to me that wet fur would have more of a chilling effect than no fur. At any rate, I did clip Jaziret since he's a horse that tends to get hot.

The bit is a Myler combination bit - it works on the poll and nose as well as the mouth. Harsh bits make Jaziret worse, and this one takes a little more 'muscle' but it seems to get the message across w/o upsetting him (less pain in the mouth I suppose). I can't say that it helps keep his head down any better, but it does keep him generally more responsive and less crazy :)
