Re: [RC] [RC] Putrid pus from left nostril - Ravenof his left nostril.my 15 year old gelding (endurance horse hopeful) had pus coming out Did you check to make sure he didn't have anything "stuck up" in his nasal passage? My old horse Banjo had an abscessed tooth and he had a pus/muccus draining from his right nostril. The odor was horrible. We took Banjo to the U of MN Vet clinic, in order to determine he had a tooth abscess they had to x-ray his head. The options were surgery to remove the tooth or take Banjo home and give him massize doses of SMZ to fight the infection. Banjo was about 30 at the time, and the vets thought the surgery might have killed him, so we opt to take him home. Four months of antibiotics did the trick. \ Banjo never stopped eating or drinking. He actually seemed like he was in no pain. But..man, he had buckets of muccus draining from his nose and the odor was so bad. Keep us updated and bright healing light sent to your horse.
