[RC] Horse trailering and ability to lower head - Kristi Schaaf

I have an 8 foot wide 3 horse slant with side mangers,
and whenever we stop and check the horses, I often
find that they have dropped their heads to floor level
('cause I can't see them). The biggest horse is 15'2
and I put him in the back stall and he has no problem
moving back enough to drop his head. I don't know if
they do so when we're moving, but they can if they
want because I don't tie them. Of course, if you put a
16 hand horse in one of those tiny two horse straight
loads (you know the one - where the horse's butt is
hanging out of the back of the trailer and his tail
ils blowing in the wind 'cause he's so squished in),
then he won't be able to drop his head. I personally
wouldn't haul a horse in such tight quarters in the
first place, but that's just me.

Kristi

Life's a journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall off)
