[RC] Competing on older horses - Michael MaulIn response to:"How many have you started an already broke 10 year old or older horse for distance riding and how long did the horse hold up for you? How many miles and competitive years were you able to achieve with the horse?"The guy I'm riding started endurance at 11 and has 5,300 miles now. He will be 19 this May and seems happy with what he's doing. We will keep going down the trail until it's not fun anymore. A number of horses compete well into their 20's. Here's a article on older horses competing from Endurance News. http://www.aerc.org/ENDec05VP.asp Mike =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
