[RC] OT? Human heart rate question - Amber Roberts

Do any of you check your own heart rate (human not horse) while riding?  If so, how high does your heart rate go while riding at the walk?  I have lost half my lung function due to a pesticide poisoning and I have Tachycardia which makes my heart beat anywhere from 135 to 150 beats per minute while riding.  I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and, if so, how does it affect your riding?  How long can you ride each time?  Do you have any method for controlling this high heart rate?  My doctor said I should consider this my aerobic workout and only ride for 20-30 minutes.  I told him it wasn't worth my tacking up for such a short time.  I can no longer do Endurance or Competitive Trail because of this high heart rate.  I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with this same problem.
