[RC] The Endless Trail? - Linda Marins

----- Original Message -----
....
More than 80 riders from Bahrain and Jordan took part in the inaugural race ...

Royal Jordanian Equestrian Federation president Princess Alia bint Al Hussain...presented the trophies....
The Jordanians are now staging endurance races through Wadi Rumm.

Wadi Rumm (www.wikimapia.org/1121956/ ) is that spectacular red stone
watercourse/canyonland that David Lean filmed as the site of Auda Abu Tai's
(Anthony Quinn) Howeitat camp in Lawrence of Arabia.  Wadi Rumm really
was part of the territory ranged by the Hashemite-Arab Revolt during
WWI.  Sigh...

All these stories from the Persian Gulf to Malaysia to Patagonia to Chile
to the Sierra Nevada mountains of Tevis make me think of that surprise
hit surfing movie, 1966's The Endless Summer (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060371/).
Not much of a plot:  two surfer dudes head out around the world looking
for "The Perfect Wave."  But beautiful photography in exotic places, set to
a great musical score made for an unexpected box office bonanza.

Maybe Steph and John need a videographer.
