[RC] The sport as we know it - k s swigartPaul Sidio said: We don't know what might happen if the public, including other equestrians, were actually able to watch Endurance Riding. Don't worry, it is very unlikely that this would forever destroy the sport as we know it:) Personally, I wouldn't completely count on this. There are HUGE advantages to "flying below the radar." One of them being that you don't have to explain yourself to virtually ignorant people. It can sometimes be very easy to create the wrong "public" impression because rest assured, there is no way to package it so everybody will be able to see everything just by letting "the public" watch. I strongly suspect that were the participants to start having to overly concern themselves with what casual observers are seeing any time they decide they might like to glance over and watch, that those same people will start obsessing about appearance perhaps to the detriment of reality. There is nothing I hate more than being around a bunch of people who are obsessed about appearance. Invite people to "watch" and you will start the participants worrying about how they "look." No thanks. It may change the sport more than you might first think. kat Orange County, Calif. :) "If the end justifies the means, everybody is justified." John G.
