Re: [RC] [RC] Pepper Spray - merri meldeI used to do night owl work in the Pacific Northwest, where there are bears and cougars. Sometimes I'd get spooked at night, especially if hiking far from the truck in overgrown brush, and after seeing enough bears, and hearing enough funny (cougar?) noises, my boss finally got us pepper spray. I carried this with me quite a while with a degree of comfort with my hand wrapped around it in my pocket. Well, one night, when I was not spooked, I decided to try it out the first time, just in case I really did need to use it. I checked the wind, aimed the spray... and... gentle poof! The fine wide mist of spray wafted gracefully from my cannister, about 6 inches away, floating gently down. What good was that for anything, much less a cougar! So I was spooked the rest of that night, knowing I was back to having no protection with me. Beth is right! Test your spray, and I wouldn't try it from horseback anyway. You might spray yourself and fall off your dancing horse and the dog would eat you. merri =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
