Direct sunlight kills them quite quickly (matter of hours) without it
being particularly warm.
Freezing WILL kill them, but it takes a really hard freeze, since there
is a certain amount of warmth that is generated by the bacterial action in the manure. They will definitely die when it gets into single digits and subzero, unless they are in a pretty deep compost heap... And again, if the manure is broken up, it doesn't take as much to freeze them, either.
