Years ago I read in "The Horse" (magazine) about keeping horses
successfully on limited pasture space. I can't remember exact details in
the article, such as how many horses on what size acreage, but what they
advocated was to have three paddocks/pastures and rotate them every two weeks,
so every pasture would get 2 weeks use, and 1 month rest. As soon as the
horses were taken off, the pasture was dragged to break up and spread manure
around, and right before the horses were put onto a new pasture, it was mowed to
about 6 inches to control weeds. I know I have this filed somewhere since
it sounded like a great idea. Maybe they have it archived??
