[RC] age per miles - rides2farCindy said: My actual number of completed one day 100 milers is 19, but four of them are pre-85, I think. My actual number is 8; they don't list the Pan Ams. Would somebody please loan me a 100 mile horse so I can up my stats????? :-P Jody said: PS. Angie is about 5 years older than me. But my back ain't broke and I still have some cartilege in *one* knee!>eg< We all have ebs and flows in getting our mileage. It was pretty easy to up my mileage when Kaboot was going well. I've tried 2 horses since he retired and am starting a third trying to get things up and going again. I remember when we all thought Jody was history, then she dropped by to do the first ride she'd done in a long time and showed up on a PAINT! I thought for sure she was just going to *dabble* in endurance after that. Ha. Rose (the Paint) just hit 3000 miles. When your kids hit high school is a slow time. I've not gotten to do *too* much for the last few years. Josie is now a senior. Once she graduates if I can get 2 horses sound that ought to be a great time to get some miles....so long as my parents health holds out. Then when they need me it will be a slow time again. A few years ago when I spoke at the convention I mentioned that the average AERC endurance rider gets around 250 miles of competition a year. I was almost embarassed to claim that when there were a few people in the audience who were doing my career mileage in a year. Then, after I spoke Becky Hart came up, shook my hand and said, "I rode 250 miles this year". :-) I think lame horses and injuries are what age me...miles make me feel younger. :-)) Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
