Re: [RC] English saddle - short or long billets and Why? - Beth WalkerI had the billets changed to long billets when I bought my ASC, for the same reason. On short billets, the buckles always end up under my knee or thigh. I've heard that short billets are more comfortable for the horse, but as long as the buckles aren't under **his** elbows, I would think they would be OK.As for adjusting the girth - I like the long billets for that. No need to move your leg and the saddle flap. Just reach down by your foot. :) On Dec 6, 2007, at 3:39 PM, rides2far@xxxxxxxx wrote: Did my first 50 in a jumping saddle and the buckle for the girth was right under my knee. Couldn't feel it riding at home but by the end of the ride I had to sleep with a pillow between my knees because they had matching holes that wanted to stick together. I vote long billets! Also helps when you want to tighten your girth without getting off. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
