[RC] Sores in horses' mouths! - Diagnosed - shermanThankfully it isn't a toxin. It's irritation from watergrass seedheads. You can't see them, but when you rub your hand over the horse's gums you can feel them. The horses 10 miles away had fewer ulcers because they have 60 acres of forage plus the hay. The horses kept at home have only a few acres of dirt and eat lots of the hay. I've never seen or hear of watergrass before, but you can bet I'll be taking a good look at it to make sure I don't ever buy any hay with watergrass in it. Thanks to all for your ideas and thoughts on this. Kathy =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
