Re: [RC] emergency horse help needed - D'Arcy Demianoff-ThompsonSomewhere in my files I have an article written back in the early nineties about these same type of symptoms in livestock. It was directly related to blister beetle poisoning. The blister beetles get crushed into the hay during the baling process. The toxins are released onto the hay and is highly poisonus to livestock. This was found in hay that was baled in the midwest and southwest region of the US. And especially in areas where the bales are baled in three strand wire/rope. The compression is tighter causing the beetles to be crushed. I'll see if I can find the article (it may be in storage) and the source. D'Arcy L. Demianoff-Thompson liberty4640@xxxxxxxxx In our lives, we have two or three opportunities to be a hero, but almost every day, we have the opportunity not to be a coward. She found the owners and they said they got some bad hay and had 40 sick cows or something like that. She thought it was really weird. They raise cows too and she'd never heard of such. She's on central time. Maybe she'll wake up soon and give you more info. She's in Alabama by the way, but with the drought we're getting lots of hay shipped in from distant places.> Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
