[RC] no magic bullet.. - terreI am ALMOST (99.9%) sure that I have heard Dr. Steven Duran state that extra calories fed to a resting horse are ONLY stored as glycogen if the horse is continuing to have light exercise...IOW, they will store as fat not glycogen if the horse is not getting "any" work. He said (I think) that turn out with 'play' is fine, but if your horse just stands around all day it should be at least hand-walked a mile or so, or something to that effect.I have never been able to find the source for this info--does it ring any bells with anybody? terre =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
