(Emphasis on Parelli-ite vs. Pat and Linda Parelli.) I'm like you - there is a lot of good information to be had without becoming a cult member. I've done my share of Centered Riding and stuff like that. My best "Parelli" instructor (who was Level 3 but not certifed as official Parelli instructor) was one who (gasp) walked my non-loading horse into the horse trailer without "sending" her in. Becky Hart was actually responsible for me learning the Parelli system, even though most people would ever suspect she was that involved in it. I just find it amusing how some people think so much inside a box - both standing on the outside and in the inside. They don't realize that the majority of the people don't care to live in boxes even if they participate in a certain ideology. K.
