Re:[RC] LD's are needed! - Jessica Spoone-RainesSpeaking as a new rider (did my first ld's last year) I can honestly say the thought of going 25 miles is a lot less daunting then going 50. Especially being overweight, very out of shape and having a busy personal life with 3 kids and the myriad things that go along with it. I think we would see a lot less newcomers to the sport if they were removed. Some people only have time to condition for an ld, some thats all their body can handle whether its from age, physical condition or other reasons. It has its purpose, that said I think a good solution would be the removal of top ten from it and make the placements based on vet scores. It might encourage people to slow down in hopes of raising their scores up, maybe even pay better attention to what their horse is saying. Personally I'm going to ride my ride no matter how its set up. I'm on the trail because I enjoy the partnership with my horse and when we race the only thing we're racing is our shadows.Jessica Spoone-Raines =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
