Re: [RC] [RC] LD is the ruination of endurance??! - SandyDSA
Correct - once the horse has actually achieved the given level of fitness.
Getting there takes the time and that is the tough part for many people. Once
there, keeping a horse fit is much easier with less time. But if a horse can do
2 LDs...does that mean 2 LD each day over a weekend? One each weekend?
What? Many people actually consider 25 miles a training ride to STAY fit for the
50s. IN addition, since many people in this sport are riding a horse not
specifically bought for endurance, most likely they are NOT quick fit horses,
and take more time. The message? There are far too many variables in this sport,
between horses, people, terrain, etc to assume "everyone ought to be able to do"
it. It is rude to belittle those who DO have multiple variables that limit their
progress. It is PRODUCTIVE to suggest, help, support. So...what can working
riders with kids, a spouse who cannot help, and possibly other issues reach for
- if not other supportive riders? Anyone who wants support, just ask. Been
there, done that - on the track, in the show ring on the trail, in the workplace
in the home. Of COURSe you can do it - maybe just not today:)
