Re: [RC] A perfect illustration - Truman PrevattI think the bottom line to Kat's post is as far as endurance - who cares. They might as well let people in free. That's about 8 gallons of gas - maybe 5 if you live in CA. Independent of all the whimpering, whining and gashing of teeth - the bottom line it is not a sport spectators will be willing to dig deep into their pockets to watch. Will any country be willing to build a $200,000 (US) course that they can only demand 25 bucks US for the spectator tickets - and probably only end up with a hand full of spectators and no TV coverage - since they are somewhat gun shy of equestrian events to start with - and end up pouring 200,000 buck down a rat hole?Independent of what USEF and AERC-I want you to think - endurance is "the red headed step child" of the World Equestrian Games. When all events are run at the same venue - it is on the bottom of the heap. Olympics - dream on. You get a day of dressage, you get to see every horse/performance. I'm not sure what there is to see in WEG endurance but for $25 I am willing to gamble ;-) -- “It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are.
